Issues explored within this piece include the problem of my cultural disconnect and ignorance when it comes to understanding what it means to be an ethnically Guyanese person while being born and raised in Canada. As I have gotten older, I have realized that I don’t have much knowledge of traditional Guyanese ways of life, like food, celebrations, and home environments, simply because my parents wished for my brother and me to assimilate into life in Canada. With this project, I am explaining the disconnection I have felt and the reconnection through our home videos. The final title for this project is “905-455-4636,” which was our old home phone number before we got rid of it due to cell phones.
